The final decision by the Education Ministry of Malaysia is to withdraw its
earlier announcement to allow students of all schools to bring handphones to
schools. Reason : Parents and teachers are not ready (some critiques that about
5-10 years behind time). Then again, the Education Minister Datuk Seri
Hishamuddin said it will be implemented later, stage by stage. Yes, begin with
the secondary schools, the students of which are big enough to handle this. We
cannot postpone it for ever, else people in other parts of the world may look
upon us as "ulu".
